Amy Saylor Gerak-- Mom, Wife, Singer, Idea Wrestler, Friend
Amy was born in the 70's and began her life on a farm. Born to amazing parents, Rick (farmer, Dad, God-studier and lover) and Sherry (counselor, friend to all, God-lover and communicator), and sister to fun-loving and joyous Scott, God shaped her through this life and these people.
It was here-- on the farm and with her family-- that she first learned of Jesus and learned to love books, ideas, songs, and souls. Jesus began to sing to her there first, and it was there that she first learned how to sing back to her Abba.
Amy eventually went to college and later got married to her beloved, Ed Gerak (Dad, cook, hubby, leader, dreamer) and has two twins that light up her heart and soul-- Moses (creative, tender, funny) and Lancey (earnest, funny, sweet).
Walking daily in this broken yet Jesus-filled world has been hard, scary, and magical, but underneath and undergirding it all is a Peace and Joy that cannot be quenched by any fire. She has found His name to be Jesus.
Currently, Amy is the Worship Director at Grace Fellowship Church in Buckeye, AZ. She loves, loves, loves to be in the church and cherishes the opportunity to help lead His church in worship together with her amazing team.
Along with music, Amy seeks to marry love and truth-- thus, the title of "idea wrestler." She has long been obsessed with ideas and what those ideas mean in our lives. In college, she heard this quote-- "ideas have legs," and it has never left her. What we believe becomes how we live. That is why she lives to discuss truth, interact with her culture in ways that smell of Jesus's love and truth, and take the time to think through complex ideas. Amy also has a deep desire to dialogue with those whom she disagrees because she longs to exchange ideas and share souls-- to listen as deeply as she seeks to share, connect as humans, be civil in the midst of sharp debates. She invites you to walk alongside her and join her community as she journeys, wrestles, cries, and laughs through this wild, yet God-hazed world.
Amy is so very excited about her latest music project-- Asaph's Daughter. This project has been one she never thought possible. Its music is born out of her love for so many things of God but especially her calling that stems from being in the line of Asaph. Please check out the story and music on her Asaph's Daughter page. If you would like Amy to come and sing and/or speak for your event, please go to her Contact page for more information.
